Have had 5 degree warm ups each of the last 5 days I think. Today and tomorrow are 10 degree warmups. so mid 50's today and mid 60's tomorrow. Dry until Thursday evening. I should wait for a good rain to clear the salt from the roads but I will probably ride tomorrow.

Snow covered 51F in Michigan today. Great shot of Rodger and his daughter. That apple that fell stayed close to the trunk.

Yep. It was +6c when I went out for the mail this afternoon and the forecast says rain for tomorrow.

BTW, I've mentioned the avalanches we have when snow slides off of the steel roof. This time it happened just before I went out so I took pics.
I had cleared a path between the houses, more or less in line with the trunk of the spruce tree and then across to our back deck. Now you can barely see the remains of the path bottom centre and it is nearly waist deep in front of the propane tanks.

Clamp on Snow guards work great on our place. Locations without snow guards are dumping snow today but everywhere we clamped on guards they are all holding it back.

We have screwed down snow stoppers above the doors &c but everywhere else I'd rather not have the extra weight up there.

I was across the road talking to the neighbour for a while this afternoon, heard a noise and and looked up to see the snow sliding off the other end of the roof. That pile is really deep.

Brief hint of Spring in Toronto, temperature wise at least … still big piles of snow everywhere and more Winter in the forecast so it’s gonna be a messy week or two … pretty tired of it. We’ve had several easy winters and I’m outta practice. KLR hasn’t seen the light of day for a while …

By the time the snow stopped sliding off the roof the back deck looked like this (& this with stoppers above that area). You can't tell in tyhe pic but it also destroyed the tomato trellis closest to the house.
There's still some up there but I think it will stay there until it melts.

This time I only cleared a path between the doors and down the stairs. After that I put the snowshoes on and had a walk around the yard (we haven't had enough snow for that in at least a decade). The pile at the east end of the house is about 6 feet tall

It wasn't all that dense when it fell but when the temperature rose the stuff on top melted and was absorbed into the stuff below.

A week ago Saturday I had my fill of the -20F here and told the wife, let’s pack up and go to Texas a few weeks. The forecast wasn’t warm for East Texas, but 60’s and green vegetation sounded good. Hit ice and snow in Arkansas, spent the night, got up at 16F. Went to Texarkana where it was 47. Decided to find a park and walk. It was windy and pretty chilly after 15 minutes. Hit Shreveport for the night so the wife could cure her slot machine itch. Free drinks! Went to Toledo Bend area, toured, looked at a few houses. Nice area. The new forecast was for big snowstorm coming through, so I checked Corpus Christi and forecast was for 70’s for a few days. I guess we’ll go there…. Stayed in Lufkin for a night woke up to 49 F, not bad, checked forecast and Corpus Christi was to be in the 30’s???? Warmer than the -20f at home. But then I checked the forecast for Fargo, ND and it was to be in the 40’s??? So I took off home. What a Bust! I went NE to Tulsa to sleep while a pretty good storm moved through. 1/4” to 1/2” of ice with 3-5” of snow on top. Got stuck in some slow moving vehicles and went to pass. A Yukon pulled in front of me with room to spare, but then decided to tailgate the car in front of him. I backed off and said to the wife, “that guy is too close,” not 30 seconds later the car in front of the Yukon put on his rt turn signal and the Yukon panicked and locked them up. I could barely see his lights in the snow he churned up as he went 270 degrees and off the right side, fortunately stopped, but I had visions of him shooting back out in front of me. Left Tulsa at 4F and it stayed around 4 f all the way to South Dakota where it warmed up from sunshine and not much snow on the ground.

It has been in the 40’s and close to 50’s for four days now. ??? And supposed to last another week.

I had major reconstruction on my rt shoulder in December. Tore it up pretty bad in October. Didn’t get the Valk put away properly. Not sure if I’ll be on it this summer or not. It is a big beast.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.
