Sister lives in Keswick not too far from Sidecar Bob. She's taking a break and coming out west for some green grass and better temps.

Another day above freezing so I went out to find the propane tanks. Enough had melted that I could see them but I still had to shovel a path (too heavy for the blower) so I could read the gauge.
I think I'm done outside for the day.

No real surprises here.
It has been between freezing and -15c or so for the last week, occasionally overcast but occasionally sunny too. In other words typical end of February in Ontario. The banks beside the driveway are smaller and the driveway is a bit wider but the 1 foot high fence around the garden is still mostly hidden.

Now we have another Special Weather Statement warning of up to 25mm of rain from tomorrow night until Wednesday night.
They are warning about potential flooding.
I'm hoping it will wash away more of the snow.

16 days to Spring but I don't think the winter weather will be over by then.

We had some rain a few nights ago but not enough. Big time front supposed to move through tomorrow afternoon. Hoping for significant rain to clear all the salt and chemicals off the roads. Then I can spend a day washing vehicles. Right now when you drive down the thruway you are driving in a cloud of salt.

The rain arrived early. At least I won't have to shovel it ;)

The rain is still falling gently and the sump pump will probably be cycling for a few days to deal with it. The piles of snow are getting lower (I think the one at the east end of the house is down to about 5' now) but the driveway is mostly ice so I'll have to go out long enough to spread salt & sand on it.

Raining and 9C in SE Michigan today (51F) so the snow is going away fast even in the North side of the lawn.

Upper 60's today and big thunderstorm moved through this afternoon. Roads should be salt free now. Need to spend a day getting vehicles cleaned up.

I had to take my daughter to an appointment in Lindsay this morning and wanted to do some shopping. When we left it was above freezing and the main roads were mostly clear with a bit of blowing snow so we made OK time.
We were about to leave for stop #2 when she waved and pointed at the sidecar's door. Apparently the end of the zipper wasn't seated right and after I zipped it up it opened from the other end. I sat on the sidecar's fender for over half an hour closing 3 or 4 teeth at a time and backing the slider over them and was nearly half way around before I gave up and said we'd have to take the cover off off for the trip home. Shopping was out because the sidecar cover filled the space behind the seat so there wasn't anywhere enclosed to put anything.
She had dressed for inside the enclosed sidecar so I had her put my rain suit pants on for the trip home (I was wearing my snowmobile pants) and use the piece of fleece cloth I carry for passengers to use as a lap blanket when it is cold. And the storm had hit so I couldn't drive fast enough for her to get really cold anyway.
That said, it was damp & windy so even though it was only a couple of degrees below freezing the wind chill was about 10 or 15 degrees colder.

This was her view for most of the trip home
View from the sidecar Mar 3 2025.jpg

After we got home and thawed out I sat in front of the TV and fixed the zipper. Or at least it is back together and zipped closed so I hope it is fixed but we'll keep an ey on it for a while.
