Adventures that make memories!

Cloudy, breezy, Upper 40's low 50's here today. I spent most of the day installing seat covers in the new truck. Not a fun job. Luckily I had previously removed the rear seats for the doggy Platform so I only had to do the front two. Still took about 4 hours

When I was zipping it closed in the garage today before we went out for the groceries we couldn't get yesterday my daughter said that it seemed to open from a point near the front where a few loose threads from the edge of the canvas had caught between the teeth, not at the back where the ends go together like I had thought. I hope trimming those threads has solved the problem.
We had no problem with it today so I have to credit yesterday's problem to either those threads or operator error.

It was about the same temperature today with almost as much wind but it wasn't as damp and the sun was shining so today's ride was much more pleasant.
There was blowing snow on the road in a few places but the roads were mostly clear and largely even dry. This was about the worst part of the trip.

I can't say for anywhere else but our weather has actually been pretty normal. It's just that we haven't really had a normal winter for at least a decade..

Pretty nice day here. Mostly Sunny and low 50's but warm enough to play with water. I got my Truck the 1800 and the Wife's Jeep all scrubbed down. Even used the pressure washer on the truck and jeep undercarriage to remove the salt. Back is screaming but it was a good day.

It's about the same here but there is still too much salt residue for taking a good bike out (& I'll be very surprised if they don't add more salt before we're done with it). Watch out for loose sand in the corners.

There's not much less snow in our yard than there was when I took the pics in this post so no hope of even opening the shed let alone getting Mr.H out of it any time soon. I'm hoping that will be in 3-4 weeks but that pile of snow at the east end of the house has to be gone first.

And a week later, between the rain and the mild weather there is a lot less snow in our yard. And our sump pump has been cycling on & off all week to deal with the water that can't soak into the frozen ground.

I didn't need snowshoes to walk to the shed yesterday and the snow around it has receded enough that I could open the door to look inside, not that there was anything to see except a sidecar outfit covered with old bed sheets. If I had to I could shovel the last of the snow off of the patio slabs in front of the shed and get Mr.H out but there's still too much snow at the ends of the house to get it out of the yard. I prefer to take it out past the east end and the pile there is still over a metre deep so at least a couple more weeks.

Sunny again today and tomorrow with highs of 11 and 15 forecast.

My sister who lives in Keswick has immigrated to Victoria for a couple of weeks and is now counting the blossoms. She is tying with her son in Youbou and watching the elk in the front yard. She does not miss the snow.

G'Day Folks;
We have a forecast of 50+ here today and I think I will try to get the Wing out for its first flight of the season. I just have to watch for the accumulated road salt at the intersections.

It is 21c here today but it will still be a while before I can get Mr.H out.
This is the fence that was completely buried a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure if the damage was caused by the snow or by an animal that didn't see the fence under the snow.

We've always had robins nesting around our house. Last year one pair built their nest on top of where the brace for the pea trellis is attached to the wall and suffered in the wind. This year I took pity on them and built a nesting box. I put it up today

I didn't see any deer tracks in the yard this year but there were lots of dog tracks (I suspect mostly from 2 doors over) so I figure it was either them or something like a raccoon or skunk.

Nice day here just too much work. Had an area straight in front of the house abut 20 by 25 feet that did not have any grass just 14 kinds of weeds. I got tired of trying to control the weeds year after year and hit it with roundup a couple weeks ago. 5 times through it with the tiller and 5 times raking the weeds out. Got it smoothed out and will let it sit for about a month to see what will come up. Then repeat the process. Hopefully 2 cycles is enough to eliminate most of the weed seed and root remaining before I start new grass. I am whooped for today.
