-12 here all day but it got colder when the sun went down. The Weather Network has temps around -2 or -1 near the end of the 14 day forecast - sort of like the light at the end of the tunnel...

Just think, 6 months ago we were complaining about the heat :flamer :flamer :flamer

Another cool snap in Phoenix. 75F today. Pacific front coming in this weekend with rain promised. High on Sunday should be only a chilly 60F with clouds and rain.

Brrrr.

I rented one once in Colorado, great fun. And I see them out playing on the lake all the time this year. But at my age I really don't like the cold enough to go out and play in it.

Hard to believe how cold it has been this month. Coldest I can ever remember down here in Norfolk. But on the bright side all the work I have done really paid off in this months heating bill. Considering how cold it has been it is about half what I expected so that is a great surprise!

Gonna be a crappy night here tonight. Little bit of sprinkle right now but expecting heavy Snow after midnight. Calling for 5-8 tonight then 2-4 more tomorrow before it wraps up. Getting tired of all this shoveling!!

Not nearly as cold as some winters I remember. Back in '01 or '02 we had a whole week in February when it didn't go above -25.

In those days my front brakes would routinely stick at this time of year. The coefficient of thermal expansion/contraction of aluminum is about twice that of steel so when it got really cold the caliper would shrink more than the pistons. When it was around -25 the heat from the brake dragging would usually loosen it up after a couple of blocks. If it was colder than that I would stop using the front brake except in emergencies and carry a rubber mallet so I could release the brake when it stuck.

Speaking of Bob being something else, how has the healing gone, Bob? Are you riding again? I am getting the other hip replaced the 16th of March. Not sure how long it will be before I am ready to steady a Wing. Hopefully by June. I only have one of three rideable right now. Not sure, but hope to rebuild a set of forks for my hybrid.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

We're also having all-time month of February record cold temps. 20 of the last 24 days, sub-zero Fahrenheit temps were recorded in Syracuse.

Father's Day weekend (the Paris Run) is a long ways off!! ;)

About 6 inches of snow and now it is 34 and raining ice water mixture. Plain ugly out there.

Just happy we have power.

I can't say how it will translate to a haip replacement, but my shoulder is as good as it is ever going to be after rotator cuff repair in July. At 2 months after surgery I was doing light jobs in my shop (mostly tidying up) and a couple of weeks later I was ready to replace Eccles' fairing with the one that I restored before the surgery http://cx500forum.com/forum/technical-h ... ing-2.html 3 months to the day after surgery I was allowed to try driving Eccles up & down the block - that went well so I continued on to a couple of errands and did a total of about 6 Km. Nothing hurt afterward that didn't hurt before so the next day I drove to my physio appointment in the next town over and the following Monday I returned to work. By the end of January I was back to doing my regular work full time and done with physio.

It has been hurting a bit lately but so have my legs, back & just about everything else (especially the other shoulder), but that (bringing this thread back on topic) is weather related. I have been a member of the Order of Involuntary Weather Forecasters since I was in my 20s and this is the worst part of the year.

Some people are built to take the cold. Wish I was one of them. Last weekend I picked up a hitchhiker in -40 windchills. He said it wasn't too bad out. He was dressed for it but only a band around his ears. Last year I picked another up in similar conditions. He had his jacket open and got in with his full bottle of Canadian Antifreeze. Whiskey. He had gotten unruly with his 'friends' who had thrown him out of his car. Luckily he managed to hang on the bottle. He asked to be dropped off at the nearest bar.
