I got a little distracted when the headgasket on my truck blew, but am back to this project now.

A couple of weeks ago, i dug out my sketchpad and worked up a profile for the new seat. The original Bulldog seat came from a triumph, and I figured I could make a seat that more closely follows the frame of the bike. I sent a copy of my idea over to Corbin, and later that day I got a call from them, We talked for over a half hour and I was promised the seat would be sent to me within 4-6 weeks. Instead, it came in 6 days and was perfect.

The main part of the seat is carbon fiber leather, and the side panels are leather. Corbin modified the seat to my specs and did not charge one dime for the mods. I can only say I am 100% pleased with them.

I also found time to clean up the block somewhat, and got the nuts, bolt, etc into the vibratory tumbler for cleaning.

In between times, I have started working up the paint scheme, which will be almost identical to the original bulldog, with a few minor changes.

An interesting thing I found was that Octane had lifted the bulldog graphic from the mascot/logo from Gardner-Webb University..

I also have boxed the heads and am sending them off for reconditioning and to have some of the combustion chamber carved out. The purpose of carving out the head is to reduce the compression ratio to help with keeping the engine cooler while running the supercharger.

The wheels will now be the center of my attention as I dismantle the original spokes and relace the hubs with thicker spokes and 16" 40 spoke rims.

You keep raising your own bar. Did you get any idea how much your compression can be dropped from the combustion enlargement?
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

I love that seat. My '96 Triumph Sprint had a leather Corbin and it was THE most comfortable motorcycle seat I've ever owned. And it got better as the miles piled on. I put 40k miles on that bike in just under two years and the seat looked like new. He should just treat it like a fine pair of Italian shoes.

The chamber isn't actually going to be "enlarged". It is going to have some smoothing done to help eliminate potential detonation problems from hot spots. A little unshrouding/smoothing around the valve head area. And some other work on the comustion chamber. This will remove some material from the chamber thus reducing compression a little. Don't want to get carried away though. Take too much out and it will loose performance. He isn't going to be running that much boost. ;)

If you ever want the same seat, just let Corbin know my name. They keep records of each seat and how it was customized.

If you look closely at the profile, I had them shave about an inch off of the bottom over the side cover area, and take off 1/2 inch of foam.

A few more updates. I am trying to be calm as I write this, as the post office seems to have lost my left hand head in the f'n mail. anyway,

First up, a new vid has been posted on Youtube:

I spent the last few days detailing and painting the engine block. First I cleaned, then degreased it. Then stripped the paint and put a coat of self etching primer on. Finally I painted it with high temp flat black paint and replaced all the fasteners with Polished stainless allen head screws, using anti seize.
Engine after paint.jpg
I also ordered a set of 16x3.5 rims and will be taking the stock rims apart tomorrow.

The forks, valve covers, timing belt covers, water tube ends, yada yada are almost finished with polishing.

I ran all the fasteners I plan to keep through our new tumbler and was quite happy.
BD Bolts before and after.jpg
At the end of the day I put the rubbers back in the battery box. What a frustrating exercise that is!
BD Battery box prior to rubber.jpg
BD Battery box refinished.jpg
And for the knowledge of the board, I removed the thermostat cover in order to take a picture of the proper orientation of the little hole in the Thermostat. I figure this thermostat has never been replaced, so this is how Honda wanted it, at the top.
