Interesting. That means that the rim is the proper shape and dimensions which I can verify by comparing it with one of the CX rims. I will give that a try when it comes time for new tires. I'm sure I can come up with a valve stem of some sort.

Doby Pilgrim wrote:I don't think anyone here is a poser. Posers don't ride 25 or 30 year old bikes everyday or across country or for several years. For that matter, posers don't trust their lives to two wheels when they could have four. They don't wear leather when they could just roll up their windows.
Posers are people who go to a Harley shop to buy the clothes or a leather jacket and don't even have a bike. Posers also have big old Harley stickers in the rear window of their pickup trucks, again with no bike in the garage or under a cover at home. Posers aren't on NGW as far as I can tell.
As far as taste or opinions on wheels, there is no correct answer. There are advantages to both types, plus the Comstars and Lesters. But there are also disadvantages to them all as well.
And almost all of this discussion is just opinion. Nothing wrong with that, since this post is just an opinion as well...
my feelings exactly , must be a reason why I feel more at home with the" ratbagger" crowd than the" spitshiners." Gee I hope nobody gets offended at my word "spitshiner.' the chef

Dennis Kirk has 2 different sizes of stems for tubeless tires. One reason I paid the exta $50 for my Comstars was so I wouldn't have to worry about the tubes, not realizing they were not exactly tubeless from the factory. I will measure the holes when I get home from work and see which part numbers I need and let everyone know the results.

BTW, everyone, any stem for a 0.30" hole will work if you want to go tubeless on a Comstar. I accept no liability if you do though!

If you want a skinny valve stem, go to a hot rod shop that sells custom rims. I have some chromed steel wheels on my El Camino that are about 1" long. They seal with an O ring. With the valve stem caps on them, that's all you can see - the cap. I am going to use this kind of stem on my Comstars and the cast wheels on my 1100.
As for style of bike. It is as personal as a mans taste in women.
It is just plain rude to criticize someone elses preference in motorcycle style. It is a personal preference. We are all friends here and we all owe everyone else common courtesy.
If you can't say something nice in a post, just don't post.
