Anyone know where I can get this o-ring?

for those of you that have M.B.S. (multiple bike syndrome) and have the "silver wing" models.
as our sponsors also have supplies for those bikes and they are popular with the "wing" crowd.

Anyone know where I can get this o-ring?

#1

Post by Sidecar Bob »

I need one o-ring for the oil pump pickup of a Honda CX650 motorcycle.

Honda calls it a 15.3x3.5mm o-ring. The imperial equivalent is 5/8" I.D. 7/8" O.D.

Canadian Tire, TSC and the local auto parts guy I deal with don't have them and Honda Canada cannot get this part for me, even from Honda America.

This is for the winter bike and the deadline for getting it on the road is approaching fast.

Any suggestions?

I checked my bow of o-rings but it between sizes. The closest I have is 5/8" I.D. 13/16" O.D. However I did find one on bikebandit.com They don't have an '84 cx listed but I found it under the '83.

O-RING (15.3X3.5) 244455-001 $1.76

They ship to Canada. Hope this helps.

That would be a #208 from Able o-rings. you should find it at any hydraulic,
air tool or industrial supplier. might even have one here... I'll look tomorrow.

This is actually a CX650E. The builder's plate says it is a 1984 model, built 8/83. Honda Canada doesn't show the '84 model in their fiches, but from what I have been able to figure out the difference between an '83 and an '84 is something like the colour of the paint or the decal stripe pattern.

What's really irritating is that my box of o-rings has 3/4"x1" and 13/16"x1 1/16"

I have sent an e-mail to Able O-rings.

I nominate Backyard Bob as NGW hero of the week.

An envelope containing two 5/8x7/8 o-rings arrived in the mail today.

This is not the first time someone on a forum sent me something I needed. I hope when someone else needs something I will be able to send it to him.

I hope everyone here knows Backyard Bob is the source of those great spin on filter adapters available through Randakk.

A great machinist and Goldwing expert of the first water.

NGW man of the week at the very least.

thanks Gord. I did happen to know that. I'm also a fan (and customer) for a few years now.
and I don't say things like this often about anyone, but that man is a genius. I'm proud to say. IMHO, I think there are a few around this forum...
