NakedGoldWings PROJECT BIKE

#1

Post by octane »

I'm honored to be allowed to introduce
The NakedGoldWings PROJECT BIKE

Goes like this;
I've started rebuilding a GL.
As I go along, I will post photos every step of the way
and you !, my friends, are supposed to come up
with good advise.
This whole thing isn't because I'm particularly good
at this GL-stuff , or that my bike is any more interesting
than any other bikes belonging to you guys
...it's just that using my bike as a NGW-project,
we have a fix-point from witch we can all learn from each other.
SO ! it's not like; "I'm the clever guy; this is how you do things"
..no Sir;
this is like; I can teach you lot a bit
and
you lot can teach me a...lot!
and we can all learn from each other.

The idea is to make separate threads for each subject
as they pop up:
right now there's one for the whole frame/body/style thing
and
one for Wheel Rebuild (witch is more or less finished)
and
very soon there will be one for Brake Rebuild
and so on........

Our project-bike is a plain good old 77.
Not in particularly bad shape...or good shape.
All the usual stuff need to be adressed, I think.

The plan (right now) is to fix up a few things so it's
safe and drivable, then take it to the road to do a bit of testing,
then back to the workshop, do what is needed,
do the cosmetic side of things and then theres a
couple of mods that I'd like to do...more on that later.

Picture will also be uploaded to the gallery,
but PLEASE make all comments in this Forum...Thanks!

Ohh yeah; here's a photo of the old wreck

(..AND the bike.-):

Image

IMPORTANT !
BEFORE YOU GO ON;
PLEASE READ
*THIS*.

...witch means; I'm just a guy writing on this internet-site..OK!
So listen to my advise,
witch is:
don't listen to my advise.-)

Hope you'll enjoy this.,
and please don't hold back;
keep those comments and good advise and questions comming!

Thanks!

Octane

Man, this site is the BEST. I don't think I would've bought my '77 were it not for this site, in fact. :-D
