Thursday, Feb. 16. Work Day Three:

Somewhere under there, is a water pump, I'm sure of it!
Actually, the first order of the day was fabbing a top for the FIL's 6 wheeler ATV lift. It's shop built, and uses a good old boat trailer winch and pulleys to lift the table. I'm gonna steal it when he's not looking... Bad thing is I can't leave the bike up there long term, as we've got a couple of 6 wheelers to service...

Ah ha! There it is! Nice and snug, with metal vanes, so it seems to have been replaced... Cool!

So, I think I've checked the water pump off my list, but I've definitely added exhaust! I have the set that came with "Josie," stock with what seems like two or three foot extensions, as well as a set of Jardenes that were on the '82. I've also added the radiator, because I just don't trust it with all that crap inside.

As she sits, lowers, radiator, exhaust, and crash bars have been removed, as well as the shelter, seat, stator cookers, and floor boards. The front fairing should come off to do the forks, the rear rack and bags need to come off, as well as the tire, to do the gas tank, and I need to pull the battery box and clean up the surrounding frame and paint it because of rust. I guess that is my next step, the battery box and frame...

My next day in the shop will be Monday, as I'm taking a bit of a break from the split night shift cram stuff into a couple of hours during the day then sleep and always being tired stuff. Monday is President's Day, and I'm off, so I should be able to make some significant progress again...

to clean up a radiaor I put it in a disposable aluminum baking pan with water and green stuff. then on the coleman stove and boiled

Just got a text from my boss, President's Day has been switched to a regular run day for us... Oh well, holiday pay plus regular pay means I'll have the money to buy my tires that much faster... I might even have to start looking at prices/suppliers...

Check out Motorcycle Superstore. I get most of my tires there. Very good prices. And if I order before noon I ususally get them the next day, with free shipping. They have several warehouses but I don't know if you'll have one that close.

BTW, on the brakes. When I did my bike the rubber in all of the cylinders was pretty good. Pulled 'em all apart and put the seals in Silicone spray. Then carefully and meticulously cleaned all the grooves, channels, li'l tiny holes, etc. Put 'em back together with the original seals and they worked fine. Worth a try, those $35 kits can add up (that'll be X 5 = $!!)

That was kind of my plan. No biggie if I feel I have to revisit them later. When you say "silicone spray," is that how it's labeled? Guess I've seen stuff like that but never looked closely. I'll have to check that out...

Good for rejuvenating rubber. Never tried it on tires tho'

Probably not a good idea... I remember a buddy Armoralling the seats of his Camaro in high school. I ended up with bruises on my arm from sliding into the door on those "fast" corners...
