Thank for the update Robin, since the crack in the LH cannot make the RH cam worse, something else was going on. Bad parts from Honda seems most reasonable. Perhaps it was not ridden during warranty and by the time the PO figured it out he was on his own.

Good progress happening all over the place. Small update today.

I replaced the fork seals today, and came up with a nifty little trick for setting the seals.

Using a washer, a screwdriver and a rubber mallet. See pics:

Finished almost all of the polished parts and mounted the plates on the engine, as well as the thermostat housing:
bd more polished parts.jpg

Started in on the rims. Using 3.5x16 deep well side fill chrome rims. Here is the comparison to OEM. Hubs and rims are off to Buchannon to be respoked.

Lastly, mounted the gas tank, electrical and shelter today. Here is a tip for cleaning your electrical. Put your wiring harness in a pillow case and run it through the washing machine, then toss it in the dryer for about 10 minutes. Comes out clean and dry.

Also Video 7 will be uploaded tomorrow.

Peace out.

Can you take a shot of the cleaned up hubs before they go?

Well I tried to clean my wire harness like you said. I tossed it in an old pillow case, ran it though the light cycle on my washing machine, and then did permanent press in the dry.....I reinstalled it and NOW my bike wont start! What did I do wrong here, should I have used the gentle cycle?

You are a very fast electrician. You aren't supposed to toss the starter in with the wires. :)

Do not use coil over shocks in your washing machine. External cartridge is okay, but not coil over. And the battery must be disconnected when the harness is in the washer.

Don't put the coils in, don't put the starter in, don't use regular cycle, don't use bleach, don't use fabric softener, don't put them in the washer hooked to a battery. Will the rules never end? (and we haven't even gotten to the spin cycle!) Too complicated for me, think I'll stick with a wet rag and simple green.
Hope for the best, expect the worst and take what comes!

Rained today like it was Noah's Birthday. A good day to hang in the shop and take care of details.

Took a couple pictures of the project. One with the OEM headlight (which I am not going to use) for fun. I intend to use a 7" H-4 headlight, and am waiting for some bolts to arrive for mounting it. I hung the Tarozzi clip ons, and sent the Tarozzi fork brace with Gary to the polish shop. The rebuilt forks have been filled with fluid and capped. The new All balls seals feel really smooth. I mean really smooth. I am impressed.

I also took the tire off the front rim and then despoked the rim. This is where I get off the Octane train. No way I am going to spoke these myself. What a PITA that would be. So off to Buchanon.
BD Front hub de-spoked.jpg
There are a couple pics of the hub for Hott. For whatever reason, I cleaned the old spokes up. They are actually very nice. I think I will toss the spindles in the vibrator and see how they shine up too.

The body panels have now been sanded and prepped and are off for paint. I ordered Bulldog decals today as well as a tail light setup. Also incoming are the new footpeg rubbers. Things are warming up now. On to the rear hub.
