Check Wingovations, a sponsor, he has access to stainless steel pistons that are awesome and reasonably priced.

I saw those from Wingovations, I just wanted to find a solution that did not involve $160 in pistons plus boots and seals. I am getting a good used set from a member hear and will put seals and boots on them. I like the idea of the stainless ones, but not the price so much.

So I have started playing around with the sand blaster today. I had to get new media. I bought coarse walnut thinking that it would be good and it sucks. I bought #8 glass beads and what a difference!

This was after just a few minutes. I am removing the rubber things before I finish up and paint it.

I was blasting a few other things and my compressor was getting kind of hot, so I took a break.

Sand Blasting is fun

So the water pump turns over with the engine and doesn't seem to have any play, so I hope that is good.

Image

Now the bad...

Image

Image

If the look of this is any indication, I think I will have to replace the tensioners. :(

The radiator looked about the way I expected. Here is the shot looking in from the bottom.

New present waiting on my doorstep... New2U kit!
Image

While messing around in the garage, I was thinking about the rear master, and how badly locked up it is, and then I saw this...

Image

This came with a set of rear sets I was going to put on the cafe. I think I can fix up a nice little bracket for that thing pretty easily and the resivior is a remote, so I can mount it anywhere. Yes, I think it will work. Gotta pull the engine and get the frame in shape first though...

Stopped by the store and bought some CLR and these things

Image

Before:

Image

After just a few minutes (like 2 or 3) of scrubbing with CLR and rinsing with water. I air dried it with my air hose.

Image

The bottle brush is able to get behind the pulleys. I will get it cleaned better once I get the engine out.

Got a little sick last weekend, so no progress. I did get the new springs for my belt tensioner, some fork seals and some other bits. I got a nice used set of brakes, and I am getting them all sorted out.

Today, I pulled the carbs and while they are not pristine, they are probably better than any set I have seen pulled from a bike that has been sitting outside this long.

OK, I think I have mentioned that I am cheap. I am ordering Randakk's carb kit today and would like to know if I should get the one with the video or without. Do I really need to have the video, or are there some good youtube clips that will work?

If you are asking I would say yes. It is a very good video and could end up saving you money and time.

I have rebuilt a lot of carbs. I got the video with the first rebuild kit I bought. And I was glad I did. He shows some things that you may eventually learn on your own. But quicker when you see the vid.

I had to fight, and I mean really fight to get the rear brake pedal off. It would not move by hand and i had to move it up and down with a rubber mallet.

Image

There is the post. The cotter pin is rusted in there. I am sure I can drill it out.

I got a few things done today anyway. I have been bead blasting the lower removable frame peice, but I think I am going to try to find a place locally to take the full frame for blasting.
