One of my friends in the brittish gold wing club carried out this conversion on his 1100 some years ago and was dissapointed with the results, he complained af a heavy clutch action, mainly due to the earlier models using a different type of clutch spring.
One conversion that is worth doing to the clutch on the 1000 models is tofit teh rear casefrom an early 1100, the tyep that can be adjusted in the casing. This gives a lighter clutch action and should the cable snap it is a lot easier to change it.

They say WHY?, I say why not.
If God had intended motor cycles to be standard, he would'nt have given us the hacksaw.
