Seems you are using the correct solvent.

Matt and I made it home okay with just a touch of excitement supplied by the weather.

This project has an awesome crew.

I see someone must have in the carbs before. And did a big no-no. Looks like silicone on the float post. :IDTS:
Yes Robin you are correct. Just at that one spot. Don't really understand what they were doing. Posts are all good. Got all the jets out, but not sure what I have. Some are not marked, and some appear to be 78 jets. I will need some 75's and do not have extras. When I know for sure what I have, I will post. This one will definitely be a learning experience. I was having trouble with the choke mechanism binding and figured out that PO left a washer off. I have a spare when I rebuild. Oh yea, almost forgot to mention that right now the score is pucks 4, ernie 0. I'm tired and OUT!

I have extra 75 carb parts available. Years ago I purchased a rack for $80 when I broke one a float post on my 75. Almost all the parts are available, just let me know what you need. Sorry I missed the party as it must have been interesting with all the beverages that were available. I'm sure it was to keep everyone warm.

Glad to see Steve and Matt made it back safe...Snow all the way up to Cleveland, but roads were good up to the Airport this morning.
Ran out to garage and located a complete working rear brake setup for #898,as well as a very nice RH side cover for her as well! I will be taking the brake parts to work the next few nights for blasting, then home for dissassembly, cleaning, and inspection. Then back to work for paint and reassembly.
I want to thank the Jones for their awesome hospitality, and with Ernie, the chance to be a part of Team #898 action1 Matt and Steve for being there, and bringing the bike action1 The engine will be brought into the basement for the rest of the work as soon as I find a willing helper to carry it down! Need to make room for it as well. A fantastic weekend to break up a very monotonous winter.

Just need the fronts,Doug... As long as the pistons are better than the ones we have. The right front has a broken bleed valve. If you have the anti rattle springs for the fronts,as well as the inspection windows for all three. I got good pads, and the shims for them as well. Might be better to ship them to me. If you need my addy...PM me.

Good weekend overall. Thanks to the Jones family for the hospitality. I still have mixed feelings about selling the bike, but after seeing this plan come together, I'm sure I did the right thing, and that is in the hands of the right people.
As Steve said we had a little excitement on the way home while ice skating across the Ohio/Indiana border, no big deal just a couple scratches on the front bumper of the Dodge. (no beverages consumed).

Came home to a sick wife and almost immediately started getting sick myself. But hopefully won't last long.

Thanks again guys, and if I can do anything to help just give me a shout.

Bill, I have completed the first round of cleaning of all the carb internals. I am good on everything except the jets (assuming I get the pucks out ok). I thought it was easiest to make a chart. On the left is what I should have, on the right is what I have in each carb. The question marks are for jets that have no markings. I assumed that slow fuel jets were all 35 because that was used every year. There were no markings on any of those jets.
Image

Let me know if you have the needed jets and shoot me a price. I would also be interested in just purchasing the rack if you are so inclined. Let me know. Here is where the parts from carb 1 stand right now. They need a good bath in brake cleaner and an air compressor shower.
