well have had a good day today jet washed 18 years of dirt off the bike and got striping this is how it is now

Keep at it. Good to have another one back on the road :crosso
Take lots of pictures as you disassemble for reference later.
Great to keep these old 'Wings flying on down the road.

Ohh! that brings back memories! Good luck with the project.
Bikes at present:

83 XL 600r with a 2004 XR650L engine
And a slightly worse for the wear BMW GS adventure bike awaiting repair

One of these days I may try to resurrect a GL, but not until I have learned a lot more. Good luck.

Hey wingnut,
You might want to hang a big photo of a finished Goldwing restoration in your shop for inspiration. It's good to have you aboard.

'Since you're there' , might as well drag the gas tank out and have it done at your local rad shop.

I love this kinda work .... I can watch for HOURS.

The nice thing is once you have it all torn down, you will have a place for everything. Then you can do another one..lol

1st bike: '58 150cc Ambassador 2 stroke. learned how to chuck it down the road
'31 BSA 500 single long stroke Sloper, dug out of a wall in Sussex, never went that well...
'49 Sunbeam S8, built from bits in '67, used daily, sold to a US biker in '84, still miss it
3 BSA Bantams, now a daughter has one
