I have a question, can the original rear fender be shortened and stil be mounted again.
I want to shorten it on the engineside, about 10 cm, rotating it towards the engine and mount it again.
This will show the rear tire somewhat more and hide a blemish on my rear fender.
Can this be done.
PS: I have never removed my seat, can anyone tell me how it's done ??
Well Chum for starters , unbolt the one bolt on each side of the seat and slide the seat up and back and the seat comes off that easy . As for the fender if you are not quite ready to try and alter the rear fender try a aftermarket 7 " wide Harley Bobbed fender that are made short where the rear light actually fit in the and under the back of said fender . I'll find a pic of that fender and post if you are not sure , but you may want to disconect the front lower portion of the stock fender the sort of a gravel shield that fits infront of the rear wheel protecting andy kind of crap fron acending onto the rear portion of the motor and swing arm bearings. If you are not sure what I am saying I will be happy to further elaberate .
Here's the idea I was talking about This is Richards GL 1000 ( Sleipnir )This is that short Harley ( Bobbed fender )
Is this the idea you have in mind A B ?
hey A.B., the rear fender can be shortened if you want to spend some time at it.all original holes must be relocated using the cut off piece as a template.
the width will be slightly different at the rearmost mounting holes so spacers will be needed. also the angle of the stock tail light assy. will need to be altered to square the lens with the road.(safety). the best way to do this BEFORE you cut is make a pasteboard(cardboard) model first and see if you like it....................good luck...........T.
It is worth a try, leaving it as it is now is not an option.
There was a huge ugly sticker on the rearfender covering a rustpatch, badly repaired also.
As I want to mount a different taillight, there is no problem fixing that.
