Re: My project GL1100 Bobber Hardtail
Update on my rear suspension. Have decided to go with a hardtail rear and airbag seat suspension using an old tractor seat. Super comfortable and easy to work with.

Re: What to do with the rear suspension?
Well here is the finished suspension. Not to bad. Have to redo the front seat pivot mount, but overal I'm happy.

That's a comfy looking air bag. What is it off of?

Well the rear suspension, seat, front forks, handlebars and engine are back in. Test fitting everything and mocking up controls before I tear it all done agaain and finish detail/paint.

Re: What to do with the rear suspension?
It is a universal airbag that came off of a S10 pickup. Still debating if I should tear it all down amd go to a softail. Two things that bug me. The overal height of the bike is a little higher than i'd like and that tractor seat, although super comfy, doesn't allow for getting your feet down easy. Hmmmmm what to do.

Re: What to do with the rear suspension?
I didnt expect a 2500lb bag but I expect it should do the job.
If you dont want to modify the seat why not just fab up a seat pan that would be more comfortable?

Make due with what I have. That is my challenge/necessity for this build. I want to fan as much as possible and use what material I have around the shop. I'm broke and ingenious that way

That's the great thing about making it your own!
And if you want to change it later after you've got in on the road, a "little" slice, dice, and repaint...

Great to keep these old 'Wings flying on down the road.

Yep no better feeling than creating a bike to suite "your" needs and not everyone else. I know that there are smarter people out there who could spend hours working it all up in CAD and seeing all the different designs, but for me I like to be hands on and try a few things...Stay tuned for what happens nextwog wrote:That's the great thing about making it your own!

Sure thing. I'll post more pictures tonight. I think I will keep with the whole hardtail look after all just going to redo the seat...or maybe not....ahahah guess I could get the bike running real fast and go for a test drive and see how the seat/hardtail combo works. ...yeah maybe that first. Can always change it later

Re: My project GL1100 Bobber Hardtail
Have a vision of what you want and please yourself with the bike, the most important person in the build is you. I was on a tight budget when I started my bike. Spend wisely when you have to. I like seeing GL's on the road. Keep up the good work, Brant helped me a bunch on my bagger, and the Wingdom is awesome!
