Passing of Ed (Vic) Belanger

#1

Post by Whiskerfish »

Sad to share that Ed Belanger passed on the 10th of this month. Vic (or Victorious1) as we knew him was an active member of NGW for many years. Vic and some of the staff of NGW had differences and so he started his own site dedicated to the 1200's GL1200goldwings.com . Vic was a dedicated rider and mechanic and had a lot of passion for these old bikes but battled Mental Illness for most of his life. In the end that is what took his life.

His Site is currently offline and I have reached out to his Wife and his server Company in an effort to preserve the information that he accumulated. That will be an ongoing process.

May he Rest In Peace.

Yeah, that was a good site. Real sorry to hear this kind of news Thoughts are with his family.

I hope you are able to do some kind of site rescue, WF. Too much on there to have it vanish into the ether.

Dang, that's too bad, may he finally find some peace. Mental illness can be a very hard disease to coupe with, getting the proper support can be tough. I watched a good buddy, some years back now, slide down that slope, he never came back.

Some good new regarding the site. Tropicalsuns had been Vicks assistant and has all the access to run the site. He has brought the contract with the server up to date and is doing some cleanup of the site but it should be back on line in a few days.

It would be helpful if a few of NGW's 1200s would log on over there once he gets it back up ..... just so he knows we appreciate the effort to save a lot of good info on the 1200s .....

Sad news. I had wondered why the site was down.

I forget if I'm registered over there or not.....

I'll probably sign up anyway. Might have more 1200 info than here does, and besides, it's for a good cause.

Never met him, but conversed with him many times over there when I had my 1200. He sure did run a fine resource of 'Wing lore and wisdom. And you're right about his enthusiasm, WF.

He leaves a hole.
