rear brake rubbing

#1

Post by Steevensi »

Hi,
I noticed this week that the rear brake disc is rubbing against the pads.
My guess is there there is dirt or something that prevent the pistons to retract completely.
Is there a procedure somewhere on how to clean lubricate them?

Thanks

Tap it with a rubber hammer and see if it helps. Could be the pins that the caliper center on are sticking. Pull them offand lube them. Can't hurt. and is easy

Rubbing how bad? They will always touch a little. That is normal. But if they are dragging then yes, it needs looked at.

Not that bad. On the stand, if i push it hard with my hand, it will do a couple of turns, but i can hear it rub lightly

A couple of turns isn't bad, IMhO. Still, if you're unsure about how well it's operating, a good cleaning isn't going to hurt anything...

If you can spin the wheel 2 revs I'd say ride it and don't worry about.
