It wasn't so much the harley/honda thing as I just didn't like the long, lower flatter profile of the stock shelter. I hate to say this, but when I got the bike and mocked up the shoei bags, I kinda built and styled it based on what i pictured it in my mind with the bags. I looked around at all kind of tanks, and ideas here on NGW, but this tank seemed to fit best with the lines I pictured...

tumb2 tumb2 Yep. Like that idea.
I like your fit and trim with saddle & frame.
It's tough to make all of those elements flow.
Nice :orange

X2...my eye was immediately drawn to that area, and the work on it looked good. Nice job. I like the tail light too.
I think I overbuilt the seat pan. I am going to redo the seat pan with a longer closer fit to the frame - hoping to make it even smoother flowing. The rear light is an ebay '32 ford replica.

here are some details of the tank, passenger seat, and stuff. I just have it functional at this point and will try and get some better hinges, connections and finish work ( i hope!).

You have done a great job of making it work and I am just giving you a hard time about the Harley look. I have considered it myself. There is no right or wrong way to customize your own ride. It is yours and no one else's.
Bikes at present:

83 XL 600r with a 2004 XR650L engine
And a slightly worse for the wear BMW GS adventure bike awaiting repair
83 GL in process :IDTS:

never even thought of it as a hard time! Appreciate all the comments and hope my response was not offensive...

This site was an inspiration for this build - so many ideas - from the purists to the customs!

you don't see many wings with that ultra low minimalist seat hight look
