Gents;
I wish! One of the drawbacks of rural living is the daily commute, plus the fact that aircraft manufacturers are not too plentiful anywhere. I was enjoying a 'short' 55 minute, 40 mile commute (one way) for the past 16 years but my employer Bombardier Aerospace closed my project, the CL415 Waterbomber, and I was given the choice of to either move up to the regional jet plant at Mirabel Airport some 40 miles north of Montreal (I live 40 miles straight west of the city) or retire. At 66 years of age and 43 years of service I could have retired, but I am one of these nutters who likes his job, so I drive. But as a rural resident there are only so many ways to get to work, as there is this pesky Ottawa river that must be crossed and that gives me the option of only two bridges. Anyway I do not want to morph this topic into a discussion on long distance commuting, I will stop here.
