My next planned mod

After chasing a ghostly overheating problem combined with running out of gas twice, I discovered the faulty part when it finally failed.

The 7v regulator...it was putting out more than 7v, causing the temperature to appear to hot and the tank to appear more full than it really was. Then it died completely.

Got one of those on the way, but still less than happy with having to chase it down. Cost me a trip to Atlanta this weekend.

So, I am planning on using the same digital thermostat I use to control my manifold heat, and replacing the analog temperature gauge in the cluster. It can be set to turn the relay on OR off at a given temperature. For than it will turn on when the manifold, it turns on when cool, for the fan it will turn on when hot.

First I will find a spot to mount the thermocouple, then establish the temperature the stock fan switch turns on. Then I will wire the fan to the relay mounted on the digital thermostat and program it to turn on at the proper temp. It will be nice to be able to change that setting!

The only issue may be how to mount the new digital in place of the analog gauge. It would be nice to monitor the temperature and see the indicator light when the fan is on.
