Cable routing on a 1978 GL1000

#1

Post by delling3 »

Did a forum search, and found an old thread that likely would answer my question, but the photo's are all missing, so here goes. This is a 78 GL1000. Clutch cable and tachometer drive cable both run up on the 1/3 side, while the throttle and chock cables run up the 2/4 side, correct?

So (moving forward) after the cables exit the frame, do they pass thru the triple trees and around the headstock, or do they come up from beneath the lower triple tree? Or a mix of the two?

I've looked at the shop manual and clymers, but can't find a diagram showing the routing of the cables.

TIA.

I found that with only 4" rise bars (instead of stock 9" rise) on my '79, I was able to route the clutch cable up along the side of the air cleaner housing instead of over it, and thus take up some of the extra cable length and increase bend radius. Still runs in the same areas otherwise.
