I guess some folks like them otherwise there would not be a following. I think Many people are sold by the "reduced " maintenance premise. Me personally I do not understand freely sacrificing rideability and performance. Each to his own.

From what I've read, you can either tune them to run well at low speed or high, but they can't do both. Manifolds may ice in cold weather. Some of the higher end ones incorporated coolant lines to prevent this. Some folks love it. Randakk's manifolds and twin Weber's would be an improvement over stock in all areas, but they cost quite a bit more.

I’ve had some experience with both setups, the one pictured and then the Weber, the one pictured really suffers from very Poor mixture distribution, not a good setup in my opinion. The Weber setup with the cast manifold is better, it has a pretty good low end punch but not much up top.
Imho a well setup set of oe carbs are much better.
