Hi from Montreal and my '76 LTD-ish
Afternoon one and all, I bought this '76 GoldWing from a real gent who'd buggered up his back from years of professional high board diving. He'd been in the process of turning it into a LTD model when he decided enough was enough and - halfway through my morning coffee one day back last summer - I made it mine after a quick phone call and an exchange of hard-earned. It sat in the corner of my garage until last month when I hauled it up onto the table - I've since bought a battery, new cables, Gates timing belts, oil and air filters, a few other bits and pieces and Randakk's carb rebuild kit and DVD. Here's how the old girl looked before I dug into her -
and I've since removed the carbs, stripped and cleaned them (good old 24 hr Pinesol soak, never fails!) and will be rebuilding them once I've found the parts I need -
I'm a member of a few other forums, and was recommended to join here as soon as I mentioned I'd picked up a gl. Thanks for having me, looking forward to the journey of discovery and learning with my new ride.

Hi there - it is, and it's been great. I got mine on sale a couple years back - it needs a bit of modding to get it up to spec but no hardship. A better front wheel chock (also on sale from PA - the chock that comes with the table is not really fit for purpose) and a couple of decent eye bolts and you're in business

Re: Hi from Montreal and my '76 LTD-ish
Thanks for the warm welcome gents - I'm a member of a couple of other forums and as soon as I posted I'd picked up an old gl I was immediately directed over here...it's easy to see why.
I'm from the UK originally but married into all things Canadiana when I met my future wife in London. Couple of years out west and now in Montreal with a garage full of bikes, parts and beer cans. Friendly bloke here (Roger) is having a look for the main jets I need (#120) but I'm having a hard time tracking down the secondary main jet emulsion tubes. A PO had a somewhat heavy handed approach to working on these carbs - all the brass is buggered beyond repair. I have the Randakk's rebuild kit and dvd (pure gold) but stalling now until I can find the brass hardware to complete the rebuild. The search continues...

Duly noted. I got totally wrong name however - it's Robin, not Roger. I'm terrible with names...

Yep, looks like you picked up a nice foundation. I am the lazy type, and tend to try and maximize on the starting point when possible. That looks like a good, solid, well-preserved one. Welcome and good luck with it!

Re: Hi from Montreal and my '76 LTD-ish
Thanks again, I'd wanted an early model gl for a while but always seemed to be the guy that just missed out. I've just finished a 2 year 1982 CB750F Super Sport build and had been looking for something small to work on this winter (looked at a couple of Suzuki RV90's and some old twins but nothing came of it) and, well, ended up with something not small at all up on the table. Just want to get it started before digging too much deeper, so rebuilding the carbs now (they're very, very beaten up), will change the belts and filters etc and then try to fire her up.
Thanks again for the welcome
