I am wondering if the bore size is different.. considering it is a bigger heavier bike I'm assuming it may be.

Too much is better than not enough pressure. You could always regulate with your hand. I believe a 14 mm bore is what the front brake master needs to be on a 1000, going on memory here so you know how that can be.
