Gas tank sending unit

#1

Post by jimbo »

Hi I’m having trouble finding a gas tank sending unit for a 1980 GL1100 , I don’t have one at all does someone make a universal one or after market ? I can’t even find a used one, also I took off my floor boards and want to use just pegs , where and how do stock pegs bolt to, I’ve been trying to get a close up picture with no luck, man this is my first goldwing project that I’ve always wanted to do and parts are hard to find or am I looking in the wrong places ?

Here’s a pic showing the pegs. You should be able to blow it up to see more detail

I have one from a '75 GL1000 you can have. Part numbers are not the same but maybe someone here knows if they're interchangeable. Don't know if it works or not either. It's on a spare tank I have.

The 75 sending unit won’t work correctly with the 80 gauge. Below is some info from Randakk’s website.

1975-1979 GL1000 — 65-75 ohms empty, 10-15 ohms full 1980-1983 GL 1100 — 75-80 ohms empty, 6-10 ohms full 1984-1987 GL1200 — 101-110 ohms empty, 43-52 ohms full.
