Anyone seen the steering nut socket drawing?

#1

Post by Figor »

I thought I bookmarked it but can’t find it. It had the dimensions and what socket used.

I’m at work and can’t measure the nut. I was going to make one. Last time I rode it the steering was clunking so bad I was worried I wouldn’t make it home. I had a peak under the lower and the stem is welded in. It doesn’t really look like a factory weld.

I just spent an hour searching through 10 pages of posts from the search function to no avail. So, if anyone happens to have the link it would be greatly appreciated.

I think I figured it out from some pictures. It looks like you just leave every 3rd point on a 12 point socket.

I just use a common spanner designed for tightening my milling machine quill. Even have a few stamped out ones that came in tool kits (looks like a fire hose spanner). That said, if you are that loose, you are going to need new stem bearings. Oh by the way, the weld inside the stem looks poor on all Honda lower tripple trees.
