Re: 82 EFI Cafe Wing build
Hey! Congratulations on BOTM.
This build is looking really good.
If/When you decide to go with shorter brake lines up front, consider braided lines. They're not that much more $, last a lot longer, and provide more stopping power because the rubber doesn't give under the hydraulic pressure. You'll be pretty amazed, actually.

I know I'm very late to the party, but I have a custom seat available cheap that is so big I had to remove it. If you're interested I'll take pictures for your viewing & inspection. It has a dime sized blemish on the lower front.

Re: 82 EFI Cafe Wing build
Well after many months away I will be back working on my 1982 GL1100A. In my last time back in the US I spent my first month of ownership I stripping all the bags, faring and chrome off, added new LED lighting, changed the handlebars and got it up and running as a naked Goldwing, but thats not the only goal for my project.
Here are some pics of the work done so far Story continues below:
So I will be back in the US for a year and will finally be getting to the primary purpose of this project which is converting to EFI and computer controlled fuel injection using either Microsquirt or Speeduino. I also plan to entirely rewire the bike using modern wire and connectors.
The plan includes fabricating a high efficiency intake plenum (probably many iterations) using a single throttle body mating up to a few parts from the 85-86 EFI system. Namely the intake runners that have provision for injectors. Thats the main part of the project but when I arrive back I will keep it ridable and only do some smaller jobs on it to get it ready for that bigger project.
First up is rebuilding the brakes. I will be back with the bike in the first part of June so I might be ordering some parts this upcoming month for different things.

Do provide many details on the EFI build, many may want to follow your lead. Sounds like a fun project

Re: 82 EFI Cafe Wing build
That's the plan. I even set up a YouTube channel for this project. I've got some video of the tear down but I'll need to edit it all when I get back. I might end up waiting till winter to do the full rewire, ECU and the rest of the fuel and ignition mods. I didn't have enough time to actually ride much last time I was home in the US so that will be the priority for a few months I think.Fred Camper wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 8:38 am Do provide many details on the EFI build, many may want to follow your lead. I'll be in the KC area if anyone wants to go for a ride.

Re: 82 EFI Cafe Wing build
Here are the headlight items.
HARPUOU 7inch CNC Motorcycle headlight bucket with brackets. $60 right now.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09ZLFZ78W
Holley RetroBright 7” Round LED headlight. $238 right now but worth every penny. Super good quality and very bright.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09N7SWTXB
It all works without mods. Headlight plugs right into the Goldwing plug. I chose the bright white color of headlight but they offer a normal soft white version as well. The only slightly annoying thing about the headlight bucket is that some of the set screws to hold it in place from tilting are so small that it was almost impossible to get them tight enough. But I did and I love how it looks. The bracket is very solid and looks great.
I didn't video assembly and fitment but I could be convinced. I'll need to take it off for the total rewire anyway so I might make a video about it then.

But if it breaks I know what to replace it with.
Also looking forward to the EFI conversion since I'm probably also going to be doing something like that in the future.

Re: 82 EFI Cafe Wing build
Ok, I just saw this post from a guy who is working on a custom EFI/spark setup using K1200 throttle bodies. It looks incredible but I have serious doubts about tunability. It's so beautiful though.
