I know this has probably been posted but here's my version.
My stator went south on me, so I ordered a new one off flea bay , pulled motor, installed new and problem was solved, so I thought .
Turns out the new stator I'm assuming was defective.
I bought new batteries, yes batteries because I wanted to carry an extra as a profalactic..
Anyways I'm not pulling out the motor again, not for a stator anyway.
I did some research on D.P's, poorboy set and gathered information, went down to Autozone and bought a Georgia Metro alternator 55 amps, I had almost everything else laying around the shop except a pulley, local salvage yard, scrounging I went.
I found a I think it was 2003 Hyundai power steering pump pulley that seems to look like it may work? ?? Anyway time to dive in...pics soon to come.

lotsa ways to go, lotsa knowns, way more unknowns, lotsa stories about engine pulls to replace ..theeeeen
when i ran across this stuff for the first time ..oooooh maan, gotta be a nut to run off the cam..
cyborg & rat put an end to that chit chat, but, one & only (afaik) so far with ltd info, but, also some mileage right now
there was an ozzie commercial attempt, but ..more yakety yak ..for the most part,

Cyborg and RAT both to me are Guru's when it comes to our wings and everything I questioned about they have pretty much got me through and I take what they say very seriously.
I just had to do this conversion because I just didn't want to pull the motor again and possibly install another bum stator.
Anyhow I found two different puleys. A 5in and a 4in, I opted to try the 5 for the first go at this along with a 5/8 diameter × 1in long stainless bushing from home Depot, I tried finding one that was keyed but no such luck so I got out the ol Drexel and made a notch to fit in the crank bolt area keyway. For the top alternator mount I opted the pipe clevis since I already had one in the shop with all thread and nuts along with a piece of old bracket.
The bottom mount is an old gl A type motor mount (temporarily )
Wiring was simple main alternator wire to 40 amp relay type fuse then to battery, ignition post to bike's ACC terminal. Fired it up to check volts 14.33 at idle Im Almost A HAPPY camper. Slight shake at alternator but will fix today.
Also after that time to refit the radiator.

Nice install. Make sure you have 12 VDC to the field ("F") and sense ("S") terminals. You can use the same 12 VDC wire that you show, just have it going to the two terminals. Alternator needs the "S" and "F" terminals connected to 12 VDC to operate properly.
The "L" terminal is a nice to have if you want to install an "idiot" light. I have the "L" terminal connected, it's a nice to have feature.
