one carb not getting fuel [gl1000]
Carburetor #2 on my '77 GL1000 is not getting fuel, but the other three are and I'm not having any luck finding a diagram of the fuel circuit (not parts diagram) or even a picture that specifically calls out the fuel inlet. How should I go about troubleshooting this? There is what looks like a fuel line that goes from the carb body to the top of the plenum body, but is that the circuit for the air cut valve? If that line is the ACV, is there anywhere I can manually fill the bowl to see if that changes things?

Re: one carb not getting fuel [gl1000]
No. Injecting fuel into that regulated slow air hose completely bypasses the float set fuel inlet needle and seat, itself.
But, if you just need to know if that cylinder will respond to whatever volume of gasoline you would directly inject into the carburetor's fuel bowl through the slow air hose I reckon that would work

Re: one carb not getting fuel [gl1000]
Thanks. I looked in the tech tips sub, but I didn't realize there was one dedicated to drawings. I guess my next question is if 3/4 carbs are getting fuel, is there anything other than a stuck float needle that would be a likely cause of this? (If you can't tell, I'm trying to figure out if there is anything I can do before pulling the carb rack. )

Is your suspicion confirmed by opening all 4 fuel bowl drain screws ?

The "rack" has previously been removed, completely disassembled and lovingly refurbished with quality parts we presume?

My trike's 1976 LTD spec carburetors.
Randakk kit rubber parts hold up well. Rust fines and other particulates will collect in the fuel inlet passage and clog the float valve seat filter screen. The float valve seat must be entirely removed from its carburetor casting in order to completely clean the very fine filter screen and entire length of fuel inlet passage.
Short cutting, instead, with Aerosol spray and air pressure is pointless.

Often when a carb is not getting fuel, it is that float inlet screen that Cliff shows, is completely clogged.

Best believe those words, too !! Fuel tank service and, Especially, multiple sessions of carburetor "rack" pull again and revisit their internals is an unquestionable Rite Of Passage with a new to you GL1000.

Re: one carb not getting fuel [gl1000]
Cliff, 100% agree ! Greg’s words are spot on ! I used to wonder where all the trash came from that collected in the float valve seat filter until I opened the fuel level arm hole in the tank and was shocked at at the stuff in the tank.
If you find yours to be contaminated pull the fuel level arm out and the on/off/reserve valve off the side. Pull the tank out the back and take it to a quality radiator shop so they can boil it out (clean) and maybe coat the inside so it doesn’t rust again. That’s where all that fine silt you find in the float filters and bowls comes from.
Sorry but you’re going to have to pull the carbs and take a look. If you decide to rebuild things get Randakks kit. Expensive, yes but their kits are made from Viton rubber which resists the alcohol in todays fuels as well as many other chemicals, well worth it !
