Slowly but surely boys!

Looking back, I didn't post the new exhaust I added to this Goldwing. I looked for a while for a substitute that would be worth while and I came up on these blacked out mufflers that were initially for a Harley Dyna. California rules didn't allow me to ship it direct to my house, so they were sent to a friend in Texas, then he sent them to me, haha.

They have a removable baffle, but these things are damn loud with the baffles and fiberglass in!
Also wrapped the headers to give a cleaner "all-together" appearance.

Really like the overall look of them, and the mufflers feel very high quality compared to others I've had in the past. =)

Oh! And I am making the switch over to Ohlins rear shocks! I think I've now ordered around $300 in just bolts, but this bike is worth it. Really, the thing that started to irritate me was the gold bolts/nuts in the front, but none in the rear. Now with some black and gold in the rear, these little details will flow from the front all the way to the rear.

You can also see in the photo that I had a dark green auto wrap that I used to cover the bottom end... I'm not 100% sold on it, but we'll see! Cheers everyone!

Forum decorum, all exhaust changes must include a sound clip, preferably going through the gears!!
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Haha, will do! I'll see what I can get done this weekend, but a lot should be done and hopefully I can take its legs out to stretch!

Checklist this weekend:

- Replace Shocks
- Mount Headlight Bracket with padding (preserve the gold fork tubes)
- Mount new choke bracket & choke cable
- Replace old Bolts
- Mount Speedometer Sensor to the rear (The one that will take the most time)

Looks like it's just you and me here Eric Heath! Haha. A solid amount of progress occurred this week:

One thing I have been wanting to fix on this project was the head light mounts for this build. I got them and they seemed to just BARELY not fit tight enough on the middle section. The brackets barely get over the top of the forks, but they get a little skinnier as they go down and the brackets were not clamping down well enough. I also wasn't a big fan of the metal on metal, especially with the gold coating the forks have.

So, I came up with the idea of putting a rubber section on the headlight brackets and also shave off a few millimeters off of the "clamp" hoping to have the ability to make it have the space to be tighter.

After a failed attempt of a 1/16 rubber barrier on the bracket (apparently a tad too thick), I ended up finding a 1/32 thickness of rubber and it was perfect! I glued it to the inside and with a little soap and water to ease it down onto the forks, it is on!

Here are some photos of the headlight brackets with the rubber inserts:

And here is the bit taken off of the clamp area:

Follow up photos of the front end complete coming soon!

Haha, good to know! And yes, the full bike should be shown off very soon! Really excited to get this little section done. Literally just need to make a bracket for the speedometer sensor, mount it up and it's done! Any day now Jonesz! =)

Goldwings don't accelerate, they gain inertia.

1978 GL1000 - almost stock SOLD
1979 GL1000 - Winter project/parts bike - custom "Busted" STILL BUSTED
1983 GL1100 Standard- raised from the dead and back to organ donor status
And the newest acquisition, 1979 Yamaha XS 650F to be a sidecar tug. crossy.gif

Perhaps Cody is out riding. At least based on the progress...

Guys... It's been a while I definitely have some progress I am looking forward to sharing with you all.

My apologies for such a break and delay from updating. Family and work issues, but I am back now and in between these past couple of years some updating and changes have been made. Lots of set-backs and progress made. I look forward to getting back on track here, cheers everyone!
