New Delkevic exhaust

I just received my new Delkevic exhaust system.

Someone told me at one time you could get a cream to apply inside exhaust front pipes to prevent bluing.

Does anyone know the name of it, or do I need it?

I thought I would ask beforehand

If it were me, I would talk to Delkevic about that. How about some pictures ?

I used this Eastwood product from a US seller. It is a ceramic header paint for inside headers or exhaust systems to reduce internal temps. Since Honda OEM pipes are double walled in the upper section, I have used it with good results.

Delkevic are a single SS wall I believe, so I don't know what the outcome would be there. I spray multiple coats with the optional extra purchase required exchangeable spray head. I comes with an extended clear plastic tube and brass nozzle which allows greater reach down into the header pipes.

Here it is with multiple coats sprayed into a set of CL175 scrambler headers.

seeing the chips and flaking makes me think that this stuff doesn't adhere very well.

Where did you purchase it at. I've seen some where you put it in the pipe & just rotate the pipe to coat it.

I have a customer getting his Delkevic pipe ceramic coated on the inside. I have other customers that didn't do anything to their Delkevic, and neither did I, and they did not turn blue. The SS does turn an even gold color pretty much the entire length of the pipe.

Since your in Canada too, I likely bought it from Eastwood USA online a few years ago and stocked up with 4 cans. The be clear, one can is plenty for a set of pipes. I did do lots of restorations previously with many new NOS exhaust systems. It was about $30US each can and the hose was about $6 US, plus shipping which was another $35 US roughly back then.

They do ship cross border which some suppliers cannot ship hazardous goods/paints to Canada. There maybe a Canadian supplier source now if you Google the product.

Here is the link and the nozzle is not supplied unless they changed that arrangement now, as it appears to be in their ad. I would verify with them before you assume it is included.

Sorry, no "after" after pics of mine and the bike isn't where I can easily get some. The guy getting his ceramic coated doesn't have his pipe yet.

I was looking at the all the pieces. Where does the rear kickstand stopper mount? I haven’t started to in stall yet? It appears to me that it mounts to the L/R foot rest mounting bolt.
There is no mounting instructions, but it looks like where it should go!

I didn’t know which to get, in the end I got the stainless muffler system.
Yours looks good too!
My old original system was in good shape, I just wanted a different throaty sound.
Are you running it with or without baffles?
Where does the centre stand stop bracket mount?

The technique I use is very old school. I had great success with my 400, 550 and 750's. Take two wire coat hangers and put a rag between them. Twist the hangers tightly so the rag is held tight. Dip the rag into wheel grease. Get lots of grease on the rag. Now insert it into each header and turn to make sure that the header is thoroughly coated. Don't be afraid to use too much grease. The more the better.

Install headers and start the bike OUTDOORS. The smoke will be horrendous but will clear. The heated grease puts a film on the inside pipe preventing bluing. Sounds crazy but it does work! YMMV
