Naked 1500 Build… I have issues
It’s been a while since I’ve been active here, I think anyway. I have too many issues going on in my life right now but I couldn’t help starting another project anyway… here is my $35 Copart auction find… same deal as before strip it and make it functional again… this started as a thoroughly smashed bike. I dragged it home, stripped the smashed parts off, test drove it with a cardboard seat. Started making new body work… it’s winter and the best time to do this kind of thing…

That is one major project. Lots of fab work for sure. You certainly have issues but are at home here with many with identical situations.

Made very little progress with the Chicken Wing, broke my foot and a bunch of other excuses… relocated some stuff worked on the tank and seat fitting some. I did manage to get some wiring diagrams downloaded. I’m looking for standard pegs and shifters if anyone knows of any anywhere…

Best of luck to you. Big Bertha was a Big Challenge but persistence eventually paid off.

Re: Naked 1500 Build… I have issues
Anyone with 1500’s find a way to bypass the rev limiter? Valk’s have them too, and with solid rockers there’s probably a little power on the table. The only one I’ve seen is Magnum Tuning, which I believe just cheats the signal to ecm. Can’t find anyone with reviews of them.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Yes! it's a fun game converting a GL-1500 to a naked personalized machine. I did read somewhere about disabling the speed limiter. I think I recall a resistor in the circuit somewhere? something that I will be investigating soon one day. My Naked 90 is far away from being on the road.

Re: Naked 1500 Build… I have issues
Good to hear from you PedroTQ. I poked around an hour or so yesterday and didn’t find anything. I did see a hack for gl1500’s to get around the cruise control speed limiter by splicing in a wire to tell the ecu it’s in fourth gear, not fifth.
From what I understand on the Valk’s, the ECU just starts pulling timing out as you reach higher rpm in higher gears. And that’s about how it feels, you’re surging ahead and you just gently plateau.
With the tiny carburetors, maybe they’re afraid of it running lean, but why does it let you pull in the lower gears? I’m a bit surprised I haven’t found someone who’s done it and whether it’s worth it.
C5 was working on one, but never saw it completed. I know PowerArc sells a unit for 4-8 cylinder motors. Not crazy about the multi-spark theory, but it would give control of timing and provide four settings for higher altitude or pulling a trailer.
