Re: My Wing
Hmm, I was at the garage yesterday and decided to remove the head light and the dash and bring it home with me so I could solder longer cables with much better ergonomics in my office
Just realized I forgot all of my heatshrink tubing at the garage…
But I’ll try to source some today.

Re: My Wing
Been out riding and having a smile on my face
But yesterday there were a weird issue. Drove for maybe 20minutes, parked it on the sidestand and turned the ignition off.
Talked to my buddy for maybe 10-15minutes. Noticed that there were an oil/gasoline leak from one of the carburators, it was dripping as well so quite a lot of a leak.
It came from the carb or intake rubber, made a rectangle in the picture of the area.
Was a pig to get it started, had to fully choke it(warm motor and warm outside).
It then stalled if I let the throttle go too low during driving for the first couple of minutes. Then it just dissapeared and now it's running perfectly.
Almost like there were some kind of extreme overpressure from the crank case breather that caused it to leak somewhere around the throttle butterfly.
Ayone experienced something like that before?
The crank case breather hose is really bad(probably 42years old as well) so I guess any type of over pressure would crack the hose before the carbs start to leak

Re: My Wing
Might be temperature related leak, only when hot enough. Just a guess.

Re: My Wing
Could be, but I had it on idle for quite some time later in the evening with the gauge reaching the middle of the temp gauge but no leaks then.

Re: My Wing
Hehe yeah that was one of my first thoughts as well. But the oil/gasoline ratio were rather high on the oil side

Re: My Wing
Practiced some braking today and with real hard braking from like 20mph to standstill it sputters and dies.
Any idea what could be causing that? It starts up again if I give it some throttle and then all is good again.

Re: My Wing
I question if the issue you spoke of in post #79 isn't resolved yet. Just to clarify, you are pulling in the clutch as you come to a stop?

Re: My Wing
Yeah not resolved and have not been an issue again. Not been many miles since though. Yeah clutch fully in, also the oil pressure indicator came on as well during the braking

Re: My Wing
Sounds like your rpm is dropping too low. Typically if that happens during a throttle chop it is because it is not pulling on all 4 at idle or the synch is out to lunch. I would start it from cold and monitor the header temps to see if one is significantly colder than the rest. Also may try a idle drop to see if it is idling on all 4.
