The rules are the same as they have always been:
1) Participation in the Polar Bear Ride is open to all forum members and anyone else who wishes to participate.
2) Go for a ride of at least 1hr duration on either Dec. 31 2024 or Jan 1 2025 or both. (I usually head for somewhere that is at least a half hour from home, stop for a meal or to visit someone or something like that and then make sure I take more than half an hour to get back home).
3) Take one or more pics &/or a video and post them in this thread.
4) Click the following link to Piper's Patches where you can order Polar Bear Run patches and year rockers
NOTE: I checked the link and it says he is away until Jan 1 so I have no idea whether he will actually have them this year.
https://www.ebay.ca/str/pipersenterprises
I am not impressed by the amount Piper's Patches charges for postage since he moved entirely to selling on eBay so I've been buying year rockers from this place for the last few years. They are different colours and a different shape from the ones from Pipers but for about 1/3 the cost I can live with that (there's a pic in the 2023 PBR thread)

Re: 2025 Polar Bear Ride
Probably gonna miss the challenge this year. Tuesday looks like the better day here also but I have to take the wife to have some tests done. Wednesday brings in some colder temps.

Re: 2025 Polar Bear Ride
May can sneak out for a bit tomorrow. Have a list of chores to get ready for new years day. Have a 9 pound rib roast in the refer thawing. Harris Teeter had them on sale for 7.99 a pound the week before Christmas. It will be on the smoker New Years day so the smoker needs a serious cleaning and preseason the roast etc etc etc

Re: 2025 Polar Bear Ride
It was pretty overcast but at least it was just above freezing and dry so it almost felt like we were cheating
We wanted to try a new restaurant but it is too close to home so we did a 1/2 hour loop to the north, had a really nice lunch and then did a 1/2 hour loop to the south (including a stop for fuel).
I took video but it may be a day or 2 before I get it edited & uploaded.

Re: 2025 Polar Bear Ride
Past videos taken on Eccles ('84 CX650E based sidecar outfit that I drive in the winter) have been very shaky because of the camera mount, which was attached to the fairing bracket & thus the frame. A few days before New Years I decided that nothing I can do with the old setup will fix that so I made a new mount that is attached to the handlebar similar to the mount on Mr.H. This was my first chance to try the new mount; I know that the camera is tilted to the right I need to aim it a bit higher but those are easily fixed and it seems to be about as steady as the videos I've taken on Mr.H.
The trade off is that a lot more of the fairing is visible (you can also see the old mount bouncing around at the bottom of the screen - no wonder the camera shook). Space is tight so that is necessary in order to keep the camera from hitting things when I turn the handlebars but I think seeing more fairing is a good trade off for reducing the shake.
