Looking For Some Accident Information

#1

Post by Mike-C »

Good Evening Foks;
I am looking for some accident information. A good friend of mine was killed in an I-95 accident, mid afternoon on April 6 near the intersection of I-78 on the New Jersey Turnpike. He and his wife were on their way home to Nova Scotia after wintering in Hilton Head, SC. They were driving a newish Ford F250 and towing a 33' RV trailer and got 'involved' with some street racers. I don't know more than that. His wife survived and was airlifted to a hospital in PA and after a stay in the hospital she has been released into the care of their son, who flew down upon hearing the news.
The police have launched a criminal investigation into the incident, more information should be forthcoming, as the boy racers have been implicated.
If anybody has anything that they can find I would appreciate it.

Sorry to hear about your friend. The racers are bad here in Va. The Bikes especially terrify my Wife regularly. Most of the time I just do not pay them any mind, on occasion though they can be a real issue. Hope you find peace with it.

Good Afternoon Folks;
Thanks for the links, I have known Alan and his missus for about 40 years, so sad.
I can remember driving on the DC Beltway on our way to Waldorf, MD about 15 years ago, and bunch of street racers rocked past us at really silly speeds. There were about 10 of them, all kitted out with racing leathers and riding big bore sport bikes. I was driving my pickup and towing the trailer. It could have been a really serious situation.

The parked Semi was certainly the wild card. If it was not there, Alan would still be with us most likely. Prayers go out to his family.

G'Day Folks;
Yes, the Semi was the catalyst, if it was not there it would have been very different. I do not know all the logistics but the only way thatI see it happening was that the truck was on the LH shoulder as Alan died and his wife was injured. I suppose that it does not matter. I know that she did not drive the truck so she would have been in the right seat.

G'Day Folks;
Just an update . . Nothing !
I spoke to my friend's widow and she said the authorities have nothing to go on. They have not yet released the truck and trailer, so I guess they are still working on it and have not declared it a 'cold case'.
