the rear light is fixed, but now the bike won't start any more since i replaced all the fuses

last night when i entered the shed i noticed a smell of gasoline, one carb was leaking (very little)
perhaps the sparks are wet, or else i need to check the fuses and electrical system

Roll the throttle back and crank it for a few seconds, that'll clear the flood.

I get as far as the dealer locator on the Metzeler site, and from that point on it doesn't work. Tried and tried, no dealers listed in Texas, none in AZ would reply via email, site doesn't work, site doesn't work, etc. Local dealers can't order my sizes, tried to stick me double on the usual junk AND was going to have to order all of it.

So I have Dunlops now. They will suffer from the lack of availability of the other, and bad.

topped up the battery fluids, one night on the charger and the bike started without any problem.
standing on the sidestand, she fired up with lots of smoke

Smoke is OK. let it run and it will clear up.....if not you have a problem

installed a new battery today, but still i think there is something wrong in the electrical circuit.
after some time riding the fuel gauge suddenly drops to zero (while having a full tank)

after reading on the forum about testing the rectifier, i hooked up my meter and started reading the Ohm values between the different wires.
the forward bias between red and yellow (and also between green and yellow) all reads around 500Ohms
the reverse bias wasn't measurable (reading just 1)

am i using my multimeter wrong or do i need a new rectifier ?

Unplug the rectifier. With it plugged in you could be decting something elsewhere in the harness

I love the look of your bike, I am considering a scrambler type build as well. I look forward to seeing it all finished up.

got to work more on the wiring, replaced some corroded connectors and the connector to the starter switch which was burned in


the rectifier tested oke. I didn't got the 5-40Ohm values from the manual but i read somewhere that my DVM could have problems reading the Ohms correct.
It has a diode test function and the readings of those seemed oke.

Next to the regulator. At first it seemed that after replacing some connectors and putting electrical tape on some cut off wires did the trick but after a test ride the charge values were again over 15 volts. I disconnected the black wire from the regulator, and connected it directly to the plus of the battery. The black wire is the sense wire, and connecting it to the plus should normalize the charging voltage (if i read correct ....)

Unfortunately almost nothing changed. The charge rate is still high (got it up to 16.6Volts)

after issues with a ticking sound on the right cylinders, with help from ngw community i found that my fuel pump is making weird noises. got a replacement last week. because i don't run a tach, i had to find some way to plug the hole where normally the tach cable goes.

the winter is over, prepared the bike for riding again, and powdercoated and trued both wheels with stainless steel spokes.
Changed tyres to Continental TKC80

story. and how do they work on the road?
