Re: Pop's Bike
I just read this thread from start to finish, what a great build! My Department of Defence computer blocks Utube, so I'll have to wait until I get home to watch your vid. Cheers, Terry.

Re: Pop's Bike
Thanks Terry The video is not much, just wanted to show how easy it came up from the basement. The bike ran well all summer, it is a lot of fun to drive. Will start looking for another old wing to work on this winter.

Re: Pop's Bike
No worries mate, did the Webers need much setting up? I've got a spare 1200 engine which I'll eventually shoe-horn into a 1000 rolling chassis, and I'd like to install some webers, they look very cool. Cheers, Terry.

Terry The weber install went well. After running them for the past summer, I would do it again. They not only look good, they run well.

Re: Pop's Bike
Millright, where did you install the sensors for your air/fuel gauges? I'm looking to create this same setup on my GL1100. I already have the carbs installed and the bike runs but I just don't feel like I can really dial it in without the gauges. Thoughts?

This is a pretty old thread, Millwright is an occasional browser on this thread. You might get a quicker answer if you PM or email him.

Re: Pop's Bike
Hello Blackmagic, the sensors for the air/ fuel gauges are installed in a short section of pipe I made to fit between the header and muffler on each side. Having the gauges really made it easy to set up, and troubleshoot.

Re: Pop's Bike
Were your sensors also Innovate products? One more question please - did you simply use the original headers and eliminate the mid cross over pipe when you added the supertrapps?

Re: Pop's Bike
Yes , the sensors came in the kit with the gauges, and I bought new replacement headers off Ebay. I used stainless tubing for the section to join them together that holds the bung for the sensors. Originally I had planned on installing the gauges only temporally, but they came in handy on more than one occasion. For example, a couple times dirt had entered into the idle circuit while I was riding the bike (before I took off the velocity stacks) and as soon as I pulled up to the next stop lights, I could immediately see that one side of the bike was running lean. I could tell the motor had a problem, but with the gauges I could see the problem was in the idle circuit. I just had to twist the throttle a little to go off the idle circuit and the gauges told me everything was fine. Without the gauges, who knows what I would have looked at as the problem. I then pulled out the idle screws on that side, blew them out and I was back running.

Re: Pop's Bike
that is great information and exactly what I needed to know. Any chance you remember the model # of the gauges you picked?
