starting off things right

for those of you that have M.B.S. (multiple bike syndrome) and have the "silver wing" models.
as our sponsors also have supplies for those bikes and they are popular with the "wing" crowd.

My CX 500

Post by deedunster »

I am glad I found a forum on the CX 500. This was my second bike. I taught both my boys to ride on it. Parts (Turn signals) have been replaced more than once but it runs well. The mufflers are off a Hardly-Runnning which makes it sound mean.

Oops - didnt see your post until now. Sorry!

Alright, in Germany they call the CX-series from Honda "Güllepumpe", that translates to (liquid) "manure-pump"...

But that’s not meant sneeringly or taunting, but very fond and affectionate!

I’ll never say "I'm riding the CX today"...I will always use the word "Güllepumpe" or just "Gülle". I hardly ever say CX500 at all. When I tell someone what kind of motorcycle I am riding, I'll say "an old "Gülle"...and everybody knows what it is...

And now you guys surely want to know how the CX got that name, huh?

Alright, we have a cartoon over here called "Werner". And back in the early 80's (when watercooled bikes weren’t all that common) in one of his cartoon-magazines "Werner" used a CX500 to help out Farmer "Horst", whose liquid-manure-pump broke…

But see for yourself...you'll understand just by looking at the pictures...lol

The last sentence says: “See, Horst, I’ve told you: CX500, best manure-pump in the world!â€ÂÂ

I forgot to add...I just been to the 11th annual "Güllepumpen-Treffen" here in Vechta, Germany last weekend...

Here's pictures that my friend Michael took: http://picasaweb.google.de/Meikel.1604/Vechta200802
