Then on to the electrical system...I could have done a bit better job of labelling all these parts when I disassembled everything, but I was able to figure it out..
Had to go back in a couple of times to figure out the wiring gremlins...

Finally, the moment I've been looking forward to for many months and many dollar$...
Hooked up a temporary fuel supply by hanging it from the overhead garage door....
Startup! with fire extinguisher at hand just in case...
(the initial startup (with much more smoke from all the PB blaster and Seafoam burning off) was filmed just before this but it ended up being too long to post...)

WELL DONE! Another beauty rescued! Good write-up too.

Picked up the parts from the painter today and I am very pleased...
We ran out of time due to several glitches...paint slow in arriving at the shop, top panel had to be repainted a couple of times to get it just right, etc...
So, the decals and final clearcoat will have to come after I get back from Vintage days...

What type of seat is that? It really fits nicely with the grab bar.

Walt, you have done an awesome job on your bike. A couple of those pictures with all the parts laid out could be framed and put on the wall as art. I love your paint color, and am sorry I won't be at Vintage Bike Days to see it in person.

The craftsman is proud of what he has made, and cherishes it, while the consumer discards things that are perfectly serviceable in his restless pursuit of the new." Richard Sennett as quoted by Matthew B. Crawford in Shop Class as Soulcraft
Working on your own motorcycle is half of the fun...it's also half of the problem.
How long did it actually take you to do all this? I am glad you took so many pictures. You definitely put in the time on this bike and it looks great.
I need to do this to mine but with limited knowledge and time everything is taking longer. My wife has stopped me from buying any more parts.
(and working during the summer on a bike is even more painful when it should be ridden)
Great color choice on the engine and body can't wait for more pictures.

Its the fiberglass Fender Wide from Omar's Dirt Tracking...its very nice quality and my painter remarked on how nicely finished it was with no bubbles or flaws for him to fill...
