Will this valve spring compressor work?

I dig homemeade tools, but this was to do the job in situ. Very little disassembly
I heard a hissing from an exhaust valve however while holding the valve out with the compressed air attachemnt. So I may need to take the heads off and do some actual work. I have never done that before so...I may just let it ride
