hey ian , sorry i just checked the site now i was not ignoring you,,, it's great that brian is emailing you the same plan he emailed me, but i found in the end i did not follow the plan as much as study the crap out of the pics i found online,,, a bit of advice , all the holes must be in EXACTLY the same location on all the lifting pieces otherwise it won't go up smoothly if at all,,,, DO NOT USE A MEASURING TAPE,,, use some form of simple jig so the holes end up precisely in the right place and the tubing is held still and consistent...if you know what i mean ... and drill the holes oversize and cut off a piece of round tube that will allow your bolts to pass through and then weld the oversize round tube into the square tubing to give it big time strength ( i thing essentially it is basically a plug) and then just grind down the outer sides of square tubing so that it rubs smoothly against itself,, i also used big 1" od ( 1/2" id ) nylon washers anywhere the tubing rubs against another piece of tubing... this was more a great way to practice my welding skills ( or lack there of) and in the end i'm fairly certain that for a couple of hundred bucks it is way stronger than the HF ones,,,it would be way better with a foot pump or an electric/ air lift of some sort than you are getting into way more engineering or money or both,,, at that point it is prob smarter ( for me) to just buy one of the decent $700 lifts... you can pm me if you have any specific questions ,, as far as the angles on the triangle i just held it up until it looked proper, and the lift was high enough... hope this all makes some sort of sense...i ramble...lololol

+1 on the advice otherwise You end up lifting the table and bike both like Mike said or you have to anchor the table to the floor. On mine I built front and rear triangles operated by a cable much more rigid , I built it years ago and use it all the time Yours is prettier than mine. ...JB

Got it - thanks very much! I've been saving some bedframe angle iron for just this project, but I'm in Physical Therepy for knee replacement at the moment, so it's all in the planning stage.

Bed frame... hmm. I think I have some of that laying around also. It may actually be time for me to make one of these instead of just look at the plans.
