Great post by Ric. Falling is not what he loved. But brave he was. No mater if it was a machine or man issue, the risk is part of the admission cost. Sorry to hear of such a loss.

It's sad to see a friend go, but you know he went doing what he liked to do.

We had a Memorial get together here in Norfolk today and Carl's Wife Lacy had flown in for it and was there. It was good to see her and we got to talk for a bit. The good news is that Carl died instantly. I never did hear how far he fell after going over the edge but apparently it took rescue teams quite a while to recover him. The area of the course where he crashed is a high speed area and from the preliminary investigation the current thoughts are that he hit some water from the melting snow pack and low-sided before going over the edge.

He had been camping up on the mountain with some race buddies for the practice runs and she was down in town at work when she got the initial call that he had crashed. Then a while later as she was on her way she got the call that he was gone. Turned out he was supposed to come into town as they had planned to meet to go look at a house that afternoon. They own a Town but were going to look at a single family house with a shop.

I understand there are like 3 concurrent investigations going on so all the legal stuff is on hold from that. 9 days now and they still have not even issued a Death Cert so she can't do much of anything. Thankfully she works at a Law firm so she has plenty of help on that front. He had requested a Green Funeral so the Autopsy was completed and he was released for burial quickly but the paperwork is all waiting the for the investigations. I did not know you could actually do a burial without a death cert.

Anyway A few more pics of a "Wild and Crazy Guy"!

Sorry, mate.

Strangely enough only yesterday I was thinking about my old friend Cpl 'Mitzi' Gaynor. Crashed and died in a race way back, '67 I think. Good to not forget.
