Personally I stick with what the FSM says and use ATF. It's all hydraulic oil and ATF is widely regarded as 7w. If you do decide on fork oil I'd start with no heavier than 10 w because new springs will be plenty stiff to begin with. I'm afraid that 15 or 20 w will be bone jarring.

I'm happy with 15 weight fork oil with the Progressives. Not stiff at all with the 79 Wing.

What works for one person doesn't always work for others though. Whiskerfish had Progressive springs in one of his and it was way too harsh for him. I have Progressive springs with the forks shortened internally. Very stiff but it is what I wanted.

I'm 220 lbs so I guess I'm pretty porky compared to you two. In my defense I am 6' 4. My Valk is too stiff with that setup though.

I thought your bike looked pretty small next to you in some of your pics, hence, the bigbrian. I'm 5'10" and shrinking fast but still push 190-200lbs. When I go from my hybrid 1000 with 41mm forks to my stock 1000 with 37mm forks I am alarmed at the flex in them. I have a fork brace too.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Can do it later. 1200's fit the easiest, but 41mm sport bikes might give better performance.
