Not exactly the west coast, but the grand canyon (along with other points west) is certainly on my riding list. Unfortunately, I'll probably have to retire to have the time to do it, and then there's the whole money issue...

Re: West Coast
Oh well.
I asked about a West coast get-together a few months back, when my bike was still in CA, and there was a burst of spontaneous.......apathy!
Too late for me now. For lack of riding buddies that side of the country, amongst other reasons, it is now back in the UK much to my regret.

Re: West Coast
X0 - I bike down to Lompoc twice a year to visit my wife's mom. I don't like group rides but definitely like group whiskey dos. If you set something up, I'll definitely make an attempt to be there.
SR 33 is a road My pals and I rode often in the 60's. Nice highway with nobody on it (back then anyhow). A road I really like is SR166. I've traveled it a few times from Lompoc to see my daughters in Porterville.
But I'd suggest finding a campground where everyone can meet up - even if they're in a motel. Good luck. It's hard work putting one of these together - just ask Sunnbobb.

sometimes you just have to put it together and then see who comes. Usually the first time it is really slow until people get used to something happening

Re: West Coast
I'll see what I can do. Most likely do camping at Lake Cachuma or one of the campgrounds off the 33. Maybe even in Lompoc.
Is there a preferred time of week? My days off are during the week, and I prefer it as there are a LOT less people on the road...
Lemme know. Even if no one shows up, I'll just get several hundred miles in on my own
On these awesome, (for the most part) snow and salt free, (mostly) well paved, scenic, unpopulated roads...

Re: West Coast
Ok, its looking like this is gonna be informal.
So:
Those interested in a run, let me know when you wanna meet up. I have Tuesday and Wednesday off every week, as well as most of the day Thursday.
If you wanna meet up, PM me and we'll organize something.
I guess that's how its gonna have to happen. The invitation is open.

Re: West Coast
I don't think the 'informal' thing will work out. If someone's riding some distance, I think they'll want to know there's a plan, that there are group members going to be there. Maybe I'm wrong but for me, as I said earlier, I don't do group rides - 'cos I drive like your grannie and most people don't. I go for the 'get-together' part and I think others do too.

Due to my work schedule for me to attend a gathering it would have to be a day maybe day and half ride from home and be held over a weekend. The joy of self employment doesn't allow me to get away mid week and my busy season is the summer time.
The wife and I will be at the Abate show in Snohomish. If anyone wants to meet or ride along let me know.
