The motad is not only quiter than the standard system, but a slight increase in power is claimed and also the bike is slightly better on fuel.
I havent tried the Predator system, but I have heard good reports.
It is very useful information Dougal, thank.
I was asking about the Mac exhaut once. I was told they tend to rust pretty quickly. I did see some pics of a set that wasn't too old and the looked like $hit.

After market mufflers

#17

Post by Rob Young »

I installed a mac system on my VT700 and it got rusty real quick. I like the looks of the Harley Electraglide mufflers. The problem of the required dog leg remains.I bought a set off ebay very reasonably. Have not tackled the installation yet. Some info on the dog leg would be much appreciated.
Thankyou!

I would think that someone at a muffler shop would be able to "mass produce" the dog leg section without too much difficulty, once a good set is produced, that could be copied. A few minutes on the pipe bender, in the hands of someone with a little experience could produce several sets in a short period of time.
Has anyone ever done that?

Did you get a set of the dog legs, or the Harley mufflers?

I've got a set of Mac Mufflers on Old Yeller, & haven't had a problem with rust......... They have a good sound too..... ;)

I've sold a couple of bikes with Jardines on the. They're a very nice sounding pipe as well.

I carry Jardine & Mac Systems, & a hand full of after market mufflers at (as Octane calls it) The Moon Place ;)

How about this, buy a pair of Ducati SS cans off eBay for $50.00
Image
Then make a bracket from 1/8" plate about 1 1/2" in length and weld it to the back of you frame
Image
Then go to your local after market muffler shop and have them bend a couple of 1 1/2" diameter pipes to a 30 degree bend, then cut them into 5" lengths. Have them use their hydraulic tubing sizer to enlarge them for a snug fit on your stock header pipe and the Ducati cans
Image
Then weld 1 end of the adaptor to your stock header pipe and slip fit the Ducati can into the other, bolt it up and go.

Batman7349 - That is what I call ingenuity. I admire your imagination and fabrication skills. I really wish I could do that. Nice!
But, how does it sound?

T:
The pic you posted of the add for the GL1000 4-1 kit. That looks killer but it also has the illusion of it going right through the rear tire.
