I was there last year and although for me the Cabot Trail suffered a little bit from overly hyped expectations I really, really enjoyed Nova Scotia. Mid July through mid August is perfect weather there. Make sure you plan on exploring the whole province. If you can't do the whole thing then make double sure you thoroughly explore Cape Breton. There is a stretch of coast between Sydney and New Waterford and then on to Glace Bay that was a real gem. Also, Fortress Louisbourg is fascinating at least for me. We made Baddek our headquarters and it offered everything you need plus it has the Alexander Graham Bell museum. Its a good spot to spend some down time if you don't want to ride for a day. Lots of places to stay including campgrounds. You may even find some with cabins, not sure. Anyway its certainly worth the trip.

Well, no promises at this point. But going to look into it. What is the best time of the year to do it?
there was hardly any traffic this time of year but a lot of things were closed as well. Normally I would say the end of july first of august because we typically get a decent amount of rain in june and early july but this year we had next to none.
I'd aim for the last 2 weeks in august...first week in sept.

Great advice.. we stayed in baddeck. There are a lot of places to stay there. The cabins I linked to in my original post are very close to Port Hawkesbury and IMHO are an ideal location for a base camp. You could explore the western side of the island on one day and the eastern side the next. Their prices are reasonable. If you are going to see more of the province you need to go down the south shore from Halifax around to Annapolis valley. It's all costal roads. If there are any Mystery of Oak Island fans that want to do the tour you could base your trip around a tour date. The tickets sell crazy fast though. we've gone the last 2 years in a row and had tickets for this summer until covid hit.
There is whale watching in digby, Citadel Hill in Halifax, Lunenburg..
You can fill up a week in a hurry..
Any sail boat people here?

I start seeing RV's from out of province in early May. From May until Sept seems to be the tourist times.

You're talking Nova Scotia, outside of Halifax by our standards there isn't any traffic.

Having spent months in Halifax and running up to the Airport daily, traffic is nothing like we concern ourselves over.

We tried hard to organize a Ride there a couple of years ago .... really hard .... too far for most.

If you do a search for Cabot Trail you will see threads going way back ....

Katy and I ended up doing it in her Mini Cooper .... wonderful trip ....

Half way around she said 'We shoulda brought the bike ....'

If there is a next time, I would fly her to Halifax and ride down ....
