From talking to some of the locals because of the size of the rocket they are saying most of the closer beach access points will be closed. I do not know for sure. I hope to be able to come in from the north and go as far as they will let me along Courtenay parkway. I would like to at least make it to the Haulover Canal Bridge area.

I have a friend living on Merrit Island. He'll probably watch from his yard.Whiskerfish wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 8:05 pmFrom talking to some of the locals because of the size of the rocket they are saying most of the closer beach access points will be closed. If NASA would have turned this project over to Elon, It would have been done already.

Re: Rocket launch
Do you know what this launch and test flight is expected to cost ???
only 4.1 BILLION dollars.
I guess you really can't expect the "smartest" rocket scientist in the country (NASA) to be able to competently
complete a project with such a small budget.
Do you know what the Projected cost of the Artimis project is ???
Only 93 BILLION dollars.
(with the inevitable delays and costs overruns on Gov't projects - Double it! )

Re: Rocket launch
Better late than an early overpriced firework. Bummed to see they had to push it back again, but I trust they'll get it figured out. These are honestly minor problems- they just want it 100% so they're positive it'll work when they do light the candle.
The limited launch windows don't help either. Gotta wait until everything's lined up if you actually want to make the moon.

Re: Rocket launch
Well it was a Very long Day. Made it to the haulover canal bridge and the bridge was up. All the beach access points were closed and all the beaches had been evacuated. The bridge was as close as you could get. I could actually see the rocket but it was close to 10 miles away. I got there about 20 minutes before they scrubbed the mission.
I had left Hickory Tavern at about 2:30 am and arrived about 10:45. By just after 11 we got word it was scrubbed. So instead of heading to my Parents place in St Cloud I went back to Hickory Tavern. Got in here about 7:30 pm. 1,010 miles for the day. Had not done a ironbutt in a very long time. Actually pretty easy on the big bike at mostly thruway speeds. May feel it tomorrow but not bad right now.
