bring warm clothes if you go down 101. It is also windy. We lived in Gold Beach (77-81) about 30 miles north of the California border

Wife's Plane ticket reservation made, 2 nights at the Crater Lake Lodge reserved for the 15th and 16th of August and the dog boarding reservation is made. Now I can start working my schedule from that.

These are the latest revisions. Day 1 (most likely 20 August) will be my only 500 mile day until I get to Rapid city and start the slab burn East. Days 2, 3, and 4 I will be going a bit more relaxed.

Day 1 from the Coast to Enterprise Or. Just above Joseph.
day 1 eastbound.jpg
Day 2 from there up 3 and 129 to the Clarkston/ Lewiston area to pick up 12. 12 to Kamiah for a lunch stop at a fabulous little bakery then across Lolo pass to Missoula then down the slab a bit to Butte for the night.
day 2 eastbound.jpg
Day 3 is down the slab to Livingston then south on 89 into Yellowstone. Just going to skim across the top of the park on the Grand Loop road and 212 the Beartooth hwy and out the other side. Then down to Cody for the night.
day 3 Eastbound from butte to Cody via Beartooth.jpg
Day 4 is Cody across the bottom of the Burgess loop to Burgess junction and then over to Custer. Run the Wildlife loop road and then over to Rapid City for the night This will be close to 2 weeks after the Sturgis rally so hoping the wildlife has had a bit of time to settle back down.

Right now I am concentrating on the way there and home again. Last time I went was on the Southern Route so there is much to see on the Northern route. We have 2 full weeks there. 3-4 days will be occupied with wedding stuff and 3 days for the Crater lake trip, so we should have about a week of free time. I don't want to ride every day but "she" has already made mention of a run down to the big trees in north Cali. Would love to spend time viewing some of the falls along the Columbia but it is just far enough to make a LONG day for an out and in. Just to get to Multnomah Falls and back would be a full 9 hours on the bike. Right now Wifey is good for about 4-6 and the arthritis in her hips make it so she can barely get off the bike. I could probably borrow the Son In Law's truck for a couple runs.

I have some time to put together a plan so there might be a overnight to the Columbia river area. The way this is working out I am going to be away from home for about 35 days so the pennies are adding up quick. This will not be as expensive as Glacier was this year but it might be close.

If you can't work in Multnomah Falls then a one hour ride from the Crater Lake Lodge is Toketee Falls. Another double fall and it cuts through some very interesting rock consisting of vertical hexagonal shaped formations. Wife and I visited it on our way to Crater Lake a few years ago.

That one is on the route for the return from Crater to Coquille. I planned that out a few days ago

This is the route we will take on the way to Crater as recommended by sunnbobb

that will take you through Gold Beach where Beth and I lived 77-81. Be aware it is almost always WINDY along the coast and COOL. After being on the coast you will want to wash off the salt on your bike

Thanks Rodger.

Now that I study on this a bit maybe I will extend that run south and find a place down by Redwood National Park to spend the night. She can see the big trees again and we split the ride to Crater in half. Will have to talk to her.

I can do the Multnomah falls on my way out of town if needed.

Really enjoy the planning process, there are Endless possibilities

It would be a shame to be that close to the Redwoods and not experience them.
