Well there you go..
Do you regulate (dial down) the incoming pressure at all?
If we can't fix it, we can fix it so no one else can.

Usually on a ball bearing turbo you use a restrictor in the turbos oil inlet, but this turbo is a journal bearing so full flow should be fine.

The kits may have drained there but definitely not a optimal place imho. Go ahead and take your oil filler cap off and start your engine. Rev it up, oil wont fly but you will feel the pressure on the back of your hand. Even if you welded a bung or tapped the gear cover as low as possible behind the original fuel pump that would be a improvement Just old school that's all...JB

I did think about using the gear cover. I'll keep that in mind as an alternative

Rough cut 1/8" aluminum cover using the plastic spacer/gasket from the fuel pump. Just used some extra bolts I had laying around, will clean it up a bit eventually.

This is old, the quadspark module is mounted where the open fuse block is in this picture.

Got the blow off valve and intake flange mounted, and intake piping installed.

I broke one of the hose ends for oil feed line, so waiting on that and a few other parts for the drain line. Probably will sort out the vacuum lines tomorrow or the next, leaving only the oil lines to start it up. Lots of work left cosmetically but mechanically Im pretty close.

Great progress icb, what BOV did you go with? The HKS one I have, so far, is proving to be a challenge to mount, yours looks a bit smaller.

I was originally planning on the HKS since it doesn't require springs or adjustment, it works with any amount of boost. But space seemed like a limiting factor.

It is from Kinugawa, I have purchased quite a few parts from them. It is a BOV for a Dodge Neon SRT4(and a few others), except it is made to vent fully to atmosphere with no recirculation.

On the models it is made for there is a flange directly on the turbo, I just cut the pattern into the aluminum plate.

FWIW I have not bought through their website, only through their ebay seller, very quick shipping out of California...Though Im sure international may take a bit longer. http://stores.ebay.com/authenticboost/

I was also looking into the Turbosmart Kompact series, but at half the price I thought Id try this one.

Thanks very much for the info icb. I think I will still 'try' and fit the HKS, but it is going to be a dang tight fit. However, I will also look into the options you have found.

Cheers,

Here is the vacuum manifold.

From left to right: left cylinder bank, right cylinder bank, blow off valve, fuel pressure regulator, boost gauge, and on the end MAP sensor.

I ordered a few fittings to clean up the fuel lines to the regulator a bit.

Hoping for a first start on Wednesday...

Have a recording device with you, it at all possible, I am sure many of us would love to hear how it sounds. Good job on the vac manifold, nice and neat looking set up. The one I am playing with has a bunch of AN6 fittings and because of that it looks big and bulky.
